About UsGovernment Higher Secondary School Nyoma is a public school under the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, School Education Department, committed to providing accessible, inclusive and quality education to the children of the region. Situated approximately 180 kilometres from Leh in the remarkable landscape of eastern Ladakh, the school is spread across a sprawling 198-kanal campus. With its distinctive setting, vibrant student life and growing educational facilities, GHSS Nyoma has developed into an important centre of learning and community life. The school was upgraded to the Higher Secondary level in 2005 and currently caters to students from Classes IX to XII. In 2025, the school had a student strength of 55 learners, marking an important chapter in its continuing journey of growth and development. Rooted in the Community GHSS Nyoma serves as an educational hub for Nyoma and the surrounding communities. Students come from villages including Anlay, Tsaga, Puga, Chumathang, Mudh and Niddar. The school is supported by a network of four feeder High Schools—Anlay, Puga, Chumathang and Liktsey—providing students with a pathway to continue their education at the secondary and higher secondary levels. Bringing together learners from different communities, the school provides a diverse and enriching environment where students share experiences, appreciate their cultural heritage and grow together as members of a larger learning community. Learning Beyond the Classroom At GHSS Nyoma, education goes beyond textbooks and examinations. The school promotes a vibrant range of academic, sporting, cultural, creative, experiential and student-centred programmes. Through clubs, competitions, sports, cultural events, leadership opportunities and community-oriented activities, students are encouraged to think critically, express themselves confidently, work collaboratively and discover their talents. Our aim is to create a learning environment where curiosity is encouraged, participation is valued and every learner gets an opportunity to flourish.
